    Day 1 - First Encounters

Even after only sleeping a bit, I woke up. My oldest cousin was coming in this morning (the last one in the group); he arrived. I jumped out of bed after seeing a text from my cousin that he was at the train station. Thinking that everyone else was asleep, I threw on a jacket, shoes, and ran towards the station. With a loud swing of the doors and the sound of wheels rolling on the hardwood floors, we had woken the others. A lazy morning greeting later, everyone started getting dressed; we were heading out. Over and Out

One would think that after 24 hours of traveling, sleep would be the first thing needed. For us, it wasn’t. Sleep was in the back of our mind; our body needed it, but we didn’t want it. We dropped our stuff, locked the door, and headed out into town. It was late, but we were dying to experience our first meal in Japan. Without knowing a lick of Japanese, we stuck out 5 fingers and sat down. Ramen was...

    24 Hour Travel

3 hours at LGA, 2 hours to ORD, 5 hour layover, and a 16 hour flight to HND (Haneda Airport) we were finally descending. With over 24 hours of travelling we were finally here in Japan. And……the first thing we did was — bathrooms. Power walking towards the bathroom with a large swing of the door we were greeted with the dreamed toilets. Sanitary sheets laid down, a warm seat, and a spray to your tushie. This was the toilet everyone talked about and it did not disappoint. Arriving fairly early in the night, getting through customs and baggage was...

    One of the Better Meals

A little more than an hour into the flight, dinner service began. We had a choice of two selections. Prawn and Vegetable Tempura Over Steamed Rice or Hungarian Style Beef Goulash. I was a bit unsure of what the beef goulash was and being that we were traveling to Japan, I chose the tempura set...

I don’t really know.. 6AM out the door, traffic starts to pour. As we go down the road…Making it to the airport slow 7AM two hours to spare Nothing but rest is all I care...
